The frenetic pace imposed on all levels of life also affects the way in which ventures are carried out. To such an extent that the way in which companies of various sizes are being launched has led scholars of the entrepreneurial process to be forced to find ways to accelerate the launch period. In this way, the overall process is altered: first, it is taught through university centers, and subsequently, a practical part is carried out in various entities where the methodology that must be followed to launch an entrepreneurial venture, which usually involves a step-by-step process, is carried out.
But in the context in which we find ourselves currently, the people who have decided to start a business They are exposed to different types of pressure that are marked by survival or the need to grow quickly in the face of a landscape filled with many other ventures that push you to do so. For this reason, it is necessary to find new schematic lines for the projects and, in this way, to abandon that step-by-step approach that is usually the norm in the entrepreneurial process we discussed earlier. This is how concurrent or simultaneous entrepreneurship is born, which breaks with the linearity of the traditional process.
What is simultaneous entrepreneurship?
In the linear entrepreneurial process, that is, the traditional model, the thinking is that the stages must follow an ordered, sequential process. However, what simultaneous entrepreneurship proposes is the integration of parallel stages so that the time period is significantly reduced. Moreover, the people who carry out such entrepreneurship can obtain a comprehensive and integrative view of the entire business from the very phase in which the project is still an idea.
Adopting this perspective makes it easier to calibrate resources and make the processes more flexible. All this with the aim that the entrepreneurship in question is of quality throughout the entire process that this entails, that is, from the moment the idea is conceived until the sales are materialized. And, also, that the different stages are accelerated and more flexible. But to do this, we start from the idea that the entire team will be equipped with the necessary tools regarding the type of work to be performed, how the process will be, and what type of product will be developed. With this, what we want to achieve is that the relevant improvements are made as quickly as possible and with minimum costs so that the time to launch also decreases.
And, as could be expected, if we want to establish this method, we must abandon the linear way of working and activate the chip for this new culture of work based on simultaneity. This process implies the use of new technologies, the streamlining of time, the optimization of resources, the complementarity of different components belonging to the different stages, and, above all, the perspective of ensuring customer satisfaction from the very initial idea.
This type of simultaneous entrepreneurship is used primarily by a large portion of entrepreneurs known as empirical entrepreneurs, that is, those who are guided by experience. This work model enables companies to achieve high levels of competitiveness due to opportunities and the need for constant innovation. Moreover, the response to changes coming from the customer side is significantly reduced.
Another important factor of simultaneous entrepreneurship is the creation of work teams with prepared, motivated and multidisciplinary people who are also flexible in such a changing environment as the one that this working methodology fosters.
In conclusion, it is important to emphasize that the implementation of the simultaneous entrepreneurship system will be more fruitful if all objectives are aligned from the outset to have a very clear concept of the project: all phases are developed in parallel. And thanks to this, the product or service development times are accelerated.
